I was at a committee meeting in Sandy Springs last August when I first heard about a group of doctors who had established GEORGIA’S FIRST CRAFT DISTILLERY, Thirteenth Colony, in Americus. I could hardly wait to learn more…
No mass production, No urban style, big plant operations… just craftsmen and friends.
The Distillery produces two labels – Plantation Vodka and Southern Vodka. From what I understand, Plantation is usually sold south of a line from Columbus, Macon and Savannah; Southern Vodka, north of that line.
The bottle in my freezer is Southern Vodka. We reward ourselves with a wee nip every then and now. Here’s hoping Thirteenth Colony Distilleries becomes the first of many handcrafted spirits distilleries in Georgia.
Thanks for info, Camille. I will share with Newton Package.
Well you are definately right in that 13th Colony will not be the only craft distillery for very long. We are set to begin production in January of 2011.
